Within the Region are some indigenous tribes such as
the Ahuacos and Koguis in the Sierra Nevada, the Wayúus in the Guajira, there
are also regions with high prevalence of black African people as San Basilio de
Palenque and Cartagena.
The people in this region are characterized for be
spontaneous, happy, music and dance lovers. The best-known musical rhythms are
Cumbia, the Mapale, the Porro, vallenato and Merecumbe.
In the vastness of its coastline in the Caribbean Region is possible to find a great variety of beaches to suit the tastes of lovers of sun and sea, among which include the Islas del Rosario and San Bernardo in Cartagena; Tayrona park and Rodadero beaches in Santa Marta, Cabo de la vela in the Guajira, Tolu and Coveñas in Sucre, San Andres and Providencia islands in the Caribbean Sea, each one of them with different characteristic that makes it unique.
